Let me tell you something...

We are going to be busy this coming week! It is pretty darn exciting I think...

Steph is taking a group of neighborhood kids to the movies this Monday. This is a great way to reach out to these kidos, reminding them that the folks at the Friendship House care about them and that we want to be involved in their lives. Monday night I will be passing out leaflets in our neighborhood for a huge BBQ this Friday (a big group will do the same on Tuesday). I personally think this is going to be the coolest thing! We know only a small fraction of these invitees; however, we are going to feed these new friends, have a couple of air castles and a lifesize train for entertainment and just have one heck of a good time. Who knows? I might even break out in some karaoke!!! Much of the week will be spent getting ready for this grand event. We will have to make some time to finish the painting here at the house and straighten things up. Although, the house really looks pretty decent now... We also need to set up the computer lab (the computers were delivered this weekend), as people will be touring the community areas of our home. And, of course, we need to do a little cleaning...

All this we'll mix in with the things we normally do, like working, prison on Tuesdays, group exercise classes, etc. Although hectic, we like it this way. I really think we'll get to make some friends this Friday. We'll get to tell them about the Friendship House, about the mission and kick this whole idea off to the neighbors. We'll get to remind them that God loves them and, ironic as it is in this crazy world, we do to! I know it will be a great time.... If you're in the neighborhood, come on by. Come see what the Friendship House is all about...

For all of you that have been involved with the FH, we say thank you! Your support, your interest, your offers to help have all been coveted. We know God will do amazing things in this simple ministry. He has already amazed us by allowing two of his children, sinners as we are, to serve. We are grateful to him for this opportunity and to you, for all you do to remind us that this really is a great thing!

Funny thing just happened as I was writing this post. Sitting here at the computer, next to a window, I saw a kid peeking his head in to see if anyone was home. So, me being the responsible Friendship Houser, I snuck outside and scared the snot out of him and his friend! It was awesome....I met these guys and talked with them for a while. Turns out they were trying to get some stray cats out from under our house. I cautioned them not to use the baseball bat they were weilding to hurt the cats and invited them to the BBQ.

So, back to the real stuff. Well, that really is the real stuff. Meeting youngsters rooting out stray cats from our house, evening walks, down-on-their-luck neighbors, the list will go on I am sure as we settle in. We are loving the adventure we're living here....We believe in the Friendship House mission...We believe in a God that amazingly still loves us amid our sin and failures. So, with that, I'll get back to the FH. We've got a BBQ to get ready for.
