End of the Spear

Many of you know the story. You know, or have at least heard, some of the details behind the death of five missionaries in the jungles of Ecuador. All this happened forty-plus years ago but their powerful story still makes a difference in so many lives. I'm no different.

I've recently reacquainted myself with the specifics of this legend. I read Elizabeth Elliot's "Beyond the Gates of Splendor" and Steve Saint's "End of the Spear" while also watching the documentary video of what life is now like for the Waodani people of Ecuador. Safe to say I've been hooked ever since. If you don't know this story, do yourself a favor and dive in. God began an amazing work out of the ashes of these martyred men. Thankfully, this story lives on and plays an incredible role today in the lives of so many believers. God continues to grow the "cloud of witnesses" for us to follow. Men and women have lived and continue to live extraordinary lives in His service. I am so grateful this is true.
