Dinner Experience

Tonight I was REALLY wanting to go out to eat somewhere. I was in the mood for some good food, a fun atmosphere, no cooking and no washing tons of dishes. So 2 1/2 out of 4 isn't so bad.
Our favorite Peruvian restaurant was closed so we decided just to drive down a main road and see what we could find. Sofia and I spotted a place that looked kind of cool. Well, it wasn't quite as cool as we thought. Don't get me wrong it was not terrible at all but it was just an "experience."

Here were the highlights:
  • Lee ordered "coca light" and since they didn't have it they just brought normal coke and that was that (pretty much you can order any drink you want here but you might get it warm or something just something totally different, it's like a surprise :)
  • I ordered my plate that's called "bistek a lo pobre" which pretty much means "poor man's meat" and I got an extra side of hair with it. Here, you just brush it aside (no pun intended) and keep eating.
  • Lee got a soup (that was his first mistake) and didn't even recognize that the lump in the middle of his soup was a chicken leg, what does that tell you?
  • The kids meal was actually pretty good, nothing to complain about
  • This was the best highlight, the waiter was trying to be nice and brought us over two small shot glasses filled with a purple looking juice. Just by the look of the glass I knew we were in trouble. I'm not one for not trying something so of course I take a swig and it took everything I had to keep a straight face. I thought I was going to throw up. Lee just looked at me after taking a sip and said "aint no way this is going down." I couldn't stand that he went out of his way to bring us the drinks (oh and did I mention we were the ONLY people in the whole restaurant at 8:00pm) so I decided that somehow this little drink was going to have to go down. I'm a TOTAL sucker when it comes to situations like this. Lee was going to try and dump it under the table and I quickly changed his mind. Luckily I had a little box I had carried some snacks for the kids so he dumped his drink in there. I took tiny sips and quickly drank my coke after every sip. It was absolutely terrible and I think next time I might just have to hurt the guys feelings.
Now that I've written the drink story out, it just doesn't seem quite as funny but hopefully you can picture it. Thanks for indulging me by reading my little dinner story.

Oh Fletchers! I just caught up on your last few posts. Thank you, thank you for the mental pictures. I can just picture you swigging down the purple stuff....way to embrace the culture Steph! Why is it that what should be a simple meal turns into such an interesting experience? Thanks for sharing! Man I wish we could just go get a "surprise coke" together and talk for hours! I've been meaning to write you a LONG email, but as you can tell....I'm so behind! It's coming! Love yall!

I don't like the durable of all those lists he's making - it's like taking too many notes at philosophy; you feel you've achieved something when you haven't.
