A Date With My Hubby

Yesterday Lee and I took a much needed getaway!

I wanted to share because we had the most wonderful time. We left right after school friday and got back about 2 hours ago. One of my teachers from school (Alejandra) and a college student Alison came to watch our kids. We went to a beautiful hotel in an area called Escazu. Here is the best part of all-we did not spend ONE dime on food.

As some of you might know I'm the Queen of trying to do things as cheap as possible and this hotel made it possible. We started off at the hotel having little pastries and tea (that was free) and then walked around the mall that was accross the street. Later on we went down to the lounge for free drinks and Hor Dorves (I should know how to spell that since I speak French but all my languages are getting messed up.) We felt a little ghetto going back to the food buffet three times but we defenently got full. We then went back to the room to watch movies and it was just awesome. This morning Lee went down to the lounge and brought me breakfast in bed (so he had to go back three times.) After some relaxation time at a spa in the mall (did I mention spa things are CHEAP here!) we went back to get ready to leave. The AC hadn't worked well in our room so I talked to the manager and we ended up getting free dinner for two next time we came to the hotel.

Our getaway was an extreme success for many reasons:

  • I got to take 5 baths in a 24 hour period (I'm not that dirty I just miss taking baths so much, I had to take advantage of it)
  • Lee and I got to watch football and some movies
  • We got to spend some great time just the two of us
  • We didn't have to spend a ton of extra money on food
  • And we loved our kids even more after we spent some time away

Note to parents:

Take some time by yourself, even if it's a walk around the neighborhood, it's so worth it for you as a couple and your kids will enjoy you more too.

Thanks Hunny for such a wonderful time!
